Ingredients

  • 500 ml (2 cups) frozen mixed berries (or other frozen fruits, your choice)*
  • 22 ml (1 ½ tbsp) lightly packed brown sugar, divided
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) chia seeds (or ground flax seeds)
  • 7.5 ml (½ tbsp) cornstarch
  • 125 ml (½ cup) homemade granola (or store-bought)
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) quick-cooking oats
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 ml (¼ tsp) cinnamon (optional)

Preparation

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, place the frozen fruits. Add 15 ml (1 tbsp) of brown sugar, chia seeds, and cornstarch. Mix well.
  2. In another bowl, mix the granola, oats, applesauce, remaining brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  3. Spread the granola mixture over the fruit.
  4. Microwave for 4 minutes.
  5. Let cool for 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

Keeps for 5 days in the refrigerator in an airtight container.

*You can use fresh or frozen fruits (apples, pears, strawberries, blueberries, mangoes, etc.). If using fresh fruit, do not add cornstarch.
