Ingredients
- 250 ml (1 cup) high-protein milk, 2% M.F. (such as NatrelPlus 18g milk)
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) cacao powder
- 5 ml (1 tsp) honey or maple syrup
- Cinnamon stick (optional)
- 2.5 ml (½ tsp) pure vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt, to taste
Preparation
- In a small saucepan, whisk together the cacao powder, honey (or maple syrup), and a few tablespoons of milk until a smooth paste forms.
- Gradually add the remaining milk, whisking to combine.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and warm the mixture, stirring frequently, until hot but not boiling, about 3 to 5 minutes. Add cinnamon stick if desired.
- Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt, if using.
- Pour into a mug and enjoy warm, or let cool and refrigerate for a chilled version.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Do not freeze.
