Ingredients
- 125 ml (½ cup) textured vegetable protein (TVP)
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) water
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) light soy sauce
- 5 ml (1 tsp) ketchup
- 5 ml (1 tsp) maple syrup
- 2.5 ml (½ tsp) paprika
- A few drops of liquid smoke* (approx. 2 ml, or to taste)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix all the ingredients until the TVP is evenly coated with the mixture.
- Spread the mixture evenly on the baking sheet for consistent cooking.
- Bake for 10 minutes, stirring halfway through to prevent burning. Remove from the oven once the TVP is lightly crispy.
- Let cool to room temperature before storing in an airtight container.
Notes
Keeps for up to 14 days in an airtight container at room temperature.
*If you don’t have liquid smoke, you can substitute with smoked paprika.
