Ingredients

  • 1 boneless buttock ham (about 1.3 kg)
  • 500 ml (2 cups) water
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) old-fashioned mustard
  • 2 ml (½ tsp) nutmeg
  • 125 ml (½ cup) maple syrup

Preparation

  1. Remove the string from the ham. Remove visible fat if desired. Place ham and water in slow cooker. Brush ham with mustard and sprinkle with nutmeg.
  2. Pour the maple syrup over the ham and cook for about 8 hours or until the ham flakes with a fork. Turn the ham over halfway through cooking.
  3. Remove ham from slow cooker and slice or break up into pieces with 2 forks. Save the cooking juices for a sauce and drizzle over the ham before serving with your favourite side dishes.
