Did you know that it is very easy to puff your quinoa at home in less than 5 minutes? You can save a little money and still have a good time!
- 125 mL (½ cup) white quinoa, rinsed and drained
Note | You can also season your quinoa before popping it. Right after rinsing it, add a little cinnamon, cocoa powder, curry powder, pepper or herbs and mix. Let your imagination run wild! You can serve it on top of yogurt and fruit, add it to your granola and granola bars, or add it to your meals to give them a crunchy texture.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the rinsed quinoa and stir continuously. Avoid adding more than half a cup at a time, as the grains will overlap and not cook evenly.
- Once thoroughly dry, the grains will begin to pop. Continue mixing until most of the grains have popped and the quinoa is a nice golden color, about 2 minutes. Do not wait for the grains to stop popping or you may burn them. Reduce heat slightly if necessary.
- Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl to cool.
