5 ways to take care of yourself with nutrition

Taking care of ourselves on a daily basis is important, yet we tend to forget to do so. Our busy schedules make us think that we can't take the time to focus on ourselves, but for our well-being, we should all do it. Therefore, here are 5 ways to take care of ourselves in relation to food.

  1. Eat your favorite food/meal

Eating foods that you love can be very enjoyable and satisfying. Taking the time to savour each bite, without feeling guilty, is definitely a great way to take care of yourself on a daily basis.

  1. Eat with a someone else

If you are used to eating in front of your computer or with your cell phone in hand, this tip will do you good. Eating with a significant other allows you to spend quality time with that person and disconnect from work and daily stress. Social interaction is one of the many ways to take care of yourself, so why not take advantage of mealtime to incorporate some into your day. Try our chicken and roasted bell pepper paella at your next meal for two.

  1. Discover a cookbook

Nutrition can become redundant on a daily basis when we cook the same recipes over and over again. What better way to take care of yourself than to bring something new to your taste buds? Find a cookbook that interests you and try a new recipe each week!

  1. Listen to your hunger and satiety signals

Taking care of yourself includes listening to your body in all areas of your life, including food. Be kind to yourself and meet your basic needs. When you feel hungry, your body needs food. Feed it with foods that will satisfy your taste buds and provide your nutritional needs.

The opposite is also true : don't wait until you feel discomfort before you stop eating. Listen to your satiety signals by eating slower and taking the time to chew each bite. When bites become less and less satisfying, it is often because you are full.

  1. Plan and prepare your meals in advance

While this tip may seem like a chore, planning and cooking meals ahead of time saves preparation time on a daily basis and therefore reduces the mental burden of eating. In addition, planning ahead allows you to choose recipes that you will have time to cook and feel like eating while taking care of yourself every week.
